Matthew G. Setliff
Dr. Matthew G. Setliff, D.M.D. is a Board Certified Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon who is a Pennsylvania native. He grew up in western Pennsylvania near Ohiopyle and Falling Water. In 2006, Dr. Setliff completed a B.S. in Biology at Shippensburg University with a pre-dental focus. He was accepted to Temple University Kornberg School of Dentistry at which time he also was awarded the Health Professions Scholarship Program with the United States Air Force. Dr. Setliff graduated with his D.M.D. from Temple and was commissioned as a Captain in 2010. Dr. Setliff then completed a one year Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, OH where he obtained credentialing for conscious sedation. From Ohio, Dr. Setliff was moved to Little Rock, Arkansas where he spent the next five years. He focused his practice on oral surgical procedures using the anesthesia techniques gained in his AEGD and fell further in love with oral surgery as a specialty. It was about that time he also met his wife, Michelle (who was an RN in the USAF at the time). They were married in 2012 and had two sons while in Arkansas. Dr. Setliff then applied for, and was accepted into, the USAF Oral and Maxillofacial Residency Program which he attended 2016 until 2020 at David Grant Medical Center, Travis Air Force Base, California. In 2020, Dr. Setliff moved his family at the Air Force’s direction to Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio which would be the last duty station for Dr. Setliff. Stationed at “Wright Patt” from 2020-2024 he worked as a staff oral surgeon, was Chief of the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery department and trained AEGD residents in surgical and anesthesia techniques. It was also during that time that Dr. Setliff also became board certified by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Dr. Setliff separated as a Lieutenant Colonel and returned to Pennsylvania to continue raising his family and to join Wood and Myers Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. He enjoys all aspects of oral and maxillofacial surgery, particularly dental extractions, surgical tooth replacement (dental implants and bone grafting) and orthognathic surgery.
Dr. Setliff enjoys spending time with his family which oftentimes includes baseball, mountain biking, fishing, traveling (especially to a beach), snorkeling, ATV riding, and go-karting. Dr. Setliff’s hobbies also include photography (nature, sports, automotive), grilling and all things automotive.
